Thing Number 12

Calendar

Picasa Album

I found using these tools to be simple. I use a calendar a lot but I do not think I could get use to using one online. I would rather just use my paper one. The calendar could be used in the classroom for students to keep up with their assignments and try to stay on top of them!

Thing Number 11

I found Google's search tool to be the easiest for finding feeds because all you had to do was put in the search bar on the main page what you were looking for and up it popped! Blogline's was the hardest for me to find feeds. I would search and had a hard time pulling up anything of interest. There are lots of useful feeds, but I found the feeds related to my area the most interesting. I found feeds that automatically popped up for Nashville, TN. This was neat, I could see what was going on near me that I may not have known about.

Thing Number 10

I like RSS and newsreaders because its saves me valuable time that I really do not have and it is easy and fun to do! From now on, my sites are going to come to me! I like the sound of that! I could use this is my personal life to find out about blogs related to teaching. If there is anything new that occurs, I will know! I could use this in school to link to my students blogs that I asked for them to set up in class, this way they can talk to me about anything they want!
Teachers can use RSS to communicate with each other through blogging. They can also use it to connect to anything informative that has to do with teaching.

Thing Number 9

The FotoTrix generator could be used on Mother's and Father's Day to allow kids to frame pictures of themselves or their families and give to their parent.

Thing Number 8

Flickr could be used in my classroom when I am discussing a topica nd have the children find a picture realtive to that topic. There are so many different pictures they could all come in with a different one! I love sharing photos online! I have several friends all over the country and this is how we let each other see how our families grow!!

Thing Number 7

It was not hard at all to find images. In fact, it was quite fun! Flickr is great! So many great pictures and some that make you go, "ummm..."!!! It was hard choosing a picture, but I decided on one. the author is Josh Hunter and it is a picture of Union Station in Nashville. I decided to stay close to home on my picture and this is close to home and an oustanding picture!!

Thing Number 6

http://www.mothersclick.com/

I viewed this site. It was great! I, of course, am a mom and found it insightful! It had all kinds of information and things to participate in. You could blog, ask questions, view what others had wrote and the responses they recieved, there were activities, recipes and even classifieds! It could be useful for parents of special needs children and any child! This could be used for mothers of the students in your classroom. You could set up a group just for them and they could communicate back and forth with each other and with you, the teacher. It would not be helpful for students.

Thing Number 5

School 2.0 means bringing technology into education. Not just in schools but at home as well. It is bringing education into the "New Age". School 2.0 means a lot for schools of the future. When you consider, technology is greatly improving and getting greater by the day, schools are going to have to keep up with this and keep students on the right track with technology so they will be prepared in the future. Technology is a fantastic tool and will be great for schools in the future. I picture class taking place (not too far in the near future)at the student's home via satellite. All communication will be done on the computer. Teachers will still be needed to teach the students but they can also teach from their homes. I am not sure this would be practical or even a great idea, but I believe it is the direction we are heading in. I viewed several of the links posted. They were interesting and gave basically the same definition of School 2.0, but worded differently. They were informative and gave several ideas of how to use technology in your classroom.

Thing Number 3

I was instructed to write about ways that you might use a blog in your teacher education program or your future classroom. I would use blogs in my future classroom to let the students interact with one another and respond to what each other is feeling. I might set up a topic of the day and let the students tell what they think of that particular topic.

Thing Number 2

It did not take me a long time to decide on the name of my blog. We were instructed to use our last name somewhere in the title and Curtis 2009, just seemed the easiest! I did not have a hard time at all decided where and how to post a blog. The avatar, on the other hand, Oh my!! I had a difficult time getting my avatar to accept changes, but after a while, it started to work.
My avatar definitely reflects my personality! I am a jeans kind of girl, but I like to pair them with a nice top and my background is in a cabin in the mountains. I love the mountains and I love cold weather!! My avatar looks something like me! Brown hair and blue eyes!

Thing Number 1

In thing number 1, I was asked to watch the tutorial and state which of the 7 1/2 habits was easiest and which would be my hardest. Well, I believe I have decided that my easiest would be #6. I definitely use technology to my advantage. I do not know what I would do without it! And my hardest would be # 7 1/2. I tend to take things too seriously. I don't take enough time to just play. I need to work on this for sure!
I hope that by playing with Web 2.0, I can learn some things about the Internet that I did not already know! Setting up my blog was not hard at all. Although, I feel that making an avatar may be more challenging!
